The Sacred heart diet is believed to have originated at the Sacred Heath Memorial Hospital and was designed to help cardiac patients whom were overweight to lose weight quickly before surgery.

But this diet quickly became a popular weight loss trend, as it is an effective and healthy way to quickly lose weight. This diet can help you lose 8 to 10 pounds during the first week.

This diet consists of a basic menu for 7 days and if followed strictly, it will clean your body of any impurities and help you quickly feel better. You also experience a splurge of energy, as you body renews itself. In this following article, we will show you how to follow this miraculous diet plan for seven days.

Day 1: Eat as many fruits as you desire, with the exception of bananas. Melon and watermelon are two of the fruits with the smallest caloric intake, so try to include these in your diet. Eat your soup alone (the recipe is included at the end of this article) and as much fruit as you desire during the day.

Day two: You can eat as many vegetables as you desire. Eat vegetables, when possible along with your soup. Use fresh vegetables that are either raw or steamed or canned. Don’t forget to chow down on lots of green-leafy vegetables and stay away from peas, dried beans and corn. Today, you cannot eat any types of fruits. When you have your soup dinner, you can enjoy it with a baked potato with a teaspoon of butter.

Day three: Today you have as much soup as you desire, along with fruit and vegetables, but you cannot have a baked potato. You will already feel lighter and you should have lost 5 pounds by today.

Day four: Today is all about drinking milk and eating bananas, plus as much soup as you can eat. Eat at least 3 bananas and drink milk all day long. Don’t forget to enjoy your soup. This diet will help to reduce any cravings you have for sweets.

Day five: Today you can have up to 500 grams or 1 pound of beef and one can of tomatoes or 6 whole tomatoes. Don’t forget to have your soup.

Day six: Today you can eat as much beef and vegetables as you desire. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks along with green-leafed vegetables and a baked yam, if desired. Don’t forget to eat your soup at least once today.
Day seven: This is the last day of your diet and you are allowed some brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice, vegetables and soup.

At the end of the seven days, you will have lost from 8 to 12 pounds. If you lost more than 12 pounds, do not start this diet again for a few days. This diet is based on the fact you are burning more calories than you are consuming. The soup helps to burn fat and you can eat it anytime you feel hungry. There are no limits on how much soup you can consume. You can substitute a boiled or grilled piece of chicken instead of beef, if preferred. Just make sure that you remove the excess fat and skin before cooking.

Avoid all types of bread, alcohol, carbonated beverages and fried foods. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and any of the following drinks are allowed: black coffee, herbal teas, fruit juices without sugar, blueberry juice and dry skim milk. If you are constipated on this diet, add a cup of wheat bran or another type of fiber to your soup. Even, if you are drinking coffee daily, you will find that your coffee addiction is less and less as the diet progresses.   • Stewed tomatoes
  • A large onion
  • Beef broth, with no fat or a cube of stock favoring
  • Green peppers
  • Celery
  • Sting beans
  • Carrots

Cut the vegetables into bit size pieces, add water and boil over medium heat for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to the lowest temperature source and simmer until all of the vegetables are tender. You can season with salt, curry, pepper and parsley. This soup can be enjoyed throughout the 7 days on the diet, whenever you feel hungry. Feel free to eat as much as you want, as the soup has a very low caloric intake. You can fill your thermos with soup and take it to work with you.
